Frequently Asked Questions
- Q: Why is there a difference between the official exchange rate and the rate charged by SafeDinar.com?
A: The official rate is the rate that is set by the Central Bank of Iraq, in Iraq. The difference in price
between the official rate and what we charge represents the price that we pay (which is substantially above the official
rate), the expense associated with transporting it out of Iraq and into the United States, the costs associated with
storing, insuring, marketing and shipping it and our profit.
- Q: What is the significance of the 1st number (Dinars to the dollar)? Do we want this number to go higher or lower?
A: The "Dinars to the Dollar" number represents the number of Iraqi Dinar needed to make one US dollar.
The lower the number the more valuable the Dinar is in US dollars.
- Example:
- a rate of 1,500 Dinar-to-the-dollar = $666.66 dollars per million dinar
- a rate of 1,400 Dinar-to-the-dollar =$714.29 dollars per million dinar
- if the exchange rate were to move from 1,500 to 1,400 then the value would move from $666.66 to $714.29. In this
hypothetical situation the rise in the value of one million Dinar (in US dollars) would be $47.63 ($714.29 less $666.66
equals $47.63)
- Q: Is the Iraqi Dinar guaranteed (or even likely) to appreciate against the dollar?
A: There is no way to predict what will happen with the Iraqi Dinar/US Dollar exchange rate. Iraq is one of
the most volatile parts of the world right now.
- Q: What are the risks associated with the US Dollar/Iraqi Dinar Exchange rate?
A: The exchange rate could change at any time. A sudden and dramatic increase in the exchange rate could
make the Iraqi Dinar almost worthless. Potential buyers should take this in to account before making a purchase.
